Where do the carbohydrate figures come from?
Three places, in order, and the screen always says which: your own list first, then our staff-reviewed starting figures, then a public food database for anything on neither. Every figure is a range for a named portion, never a single number.
A range, because two kitchens make two theplas. A single number would read as a measurement when it is an average, and this app does not put a number next to a child’s food unless somebody measured it.
Your own list is the one that wins, and it is where a dietitian’s carb sheet goes. Type it in once under Settings → Our foods, and it comes up first for everybody in the family from then on.
For a dish nobody has, the app can look it up in a public database and show what packets by that name contain, per 100 g, straight off their own labels. You pick which packet it was and say how much was eaten; nothing fills itself in.
